A hardware groovebox with eight independent tracks, each combining four-operator FM synthesis, sampling and its own analog filter. A central joystick morphs sounds, edits patterns and performs.
Story
FLEXFM is a standalone groovebox built around eight independent tracks. Each track pairs four-operator synthesis, with FM, AM and ring modulation, with sampling tools and a multimode analog filter. Sound sources range from classic waveforms and wavetables to vocal tones, noise, user-drawn waves and imported WAV samples.
A joystick is the main control. It morphs between sound snapshots, changes the relationships between operators, or moves through pattern variations. It also doubles as a piano-roll cursor for note entry, velocity and probability editing, and live performance gestures.
The sequencer offers 16 patterns of up to 128 steps with per-track lengths and rates, plus step locks, swing, arpeggiation and conditional steps. USB provides MIDI and multitrack audio, so each of the eight dry voices can be recorded separately into a DAW. Twisted Electrons says it is available to preorder for $1,146 USD, with shipping expected by the end of 2026.
